Island Health is seeking a Temporary Full-time Orthotic Technician in Victoria, B.C.

As the Orthotic Technician, you will be responsible for manufacturing, modifying and repairing custom and off-the-shelf orthoses (spinal, upper and lower limb orthopedic devices, foot orthoses and footwear) for children and adult patients on Vancouver Island. You will be responsible for ensuring inventory of materials is available, and reporting the need for supplies, equipment and repairs to your supervisor. Salary range is $25.04 - $31.22, based on experience and qualifications.

 

Qualifications

Ideally, you will have completed a recognized Orthotic Technician program plus two years’ experience in orthoses design and manufacturing, or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience. A valid class 5 driver’s license is required.

 

Skills

  • Ability to deal effectively with others including patients, families and staff.
  • Ability to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing.
  • Demonstrated ability to establish priorities, organize work and to work independently.
  • Demonstrated technical competency with orthotic device production and the ability to operate related equipment and tools.
