Graduate of a recognized technical Prosthetic and Orthotic program
Prosthetic/Orthotic Technician registration with the Canadian Board for Certification of Prosthetists and Orthotists
Membership in the Canadian Association of Prosthetists and Orthotists preferred
3-4 years related experience
Ability to work as a member of a team
Ability to work with your hands
Demonstrated ability to meet production timelines
Evidence of commitment to continuous education
Good communication and organizational skills
Strong technical aptitude
Basic computer skills
Experience with microprocessor and myoelectric prostheses preferred
Evidence of good performance history and attendance record

Should be aware of conditions and measures that may affect the safety of patients, residents, students,
employees, volunteers, physicians and visitors
Manufacture a wide range of prosthetic and orthotic devices while ensuring patient safety and high quality by
following prescriptions provided and manufacturer recommendations.
Trouble-shoot devices that are not working optimally by diagnosing and servicing the componentry.
Advise clinical staff of fabricating options (cosmesis, strength of device and suitability) by utilizing information
gathered from manufacturers of materials/components and comparison studies.
Develop and maintain fabricating skills and procedures through continuing education.
Instruct and supervise work term students and volunteers by providing guidance and support.
Provide back-up coverage to Senior Prosthetic and Orthotic Technician during planned absences and as required.
Assist in the promotion of the department as directed by manager.
Perform any other duties at the manager’s request that are deemed relevant to the position.
